Course Description:

The goal of the this interdisciplinary course is to understand the mechanism of action of the role of certain botanical dietary supplements, in particular polyphenols, against stressful events and to clarify the role of gut microbiome at the genomic level in the promotion of cognitive and psychological resilience. Naturally occurring compounds have been recognized for their therapeutic value in medical disorders, and notably, the 2015 Nobel Prize in Medicine specifically recognized developments of bioactive compounds from natural products for disease treatment. Collectively this course is creating a culture of innovation that emphasizes creativity, disruptive thinking, and interdisciplinary collaboration to understand the mechanisms associated with the promotion of neuroresilience.
