Name: Damatac, Christienne
Year you started at ISMMS: 2014
Why you chose ISMMS?
I chose ISMMS because of the vast amount of significant translational research and the rapid growth of the institution as a whole. The graduate school is very understanding, helpful, and supportive. It makes everyone feel at home, like a small community in one of the best cities on Earth. Here, the possibilities for learning, exploration and discovery are endless.
Lab: Paula Croxson
Structural and functional network changes associated with cognitive training in memory
Undergrad institution and major: CUNY Macaulay Honors College, Brooklyn – Biology and Health & Nutrition
What did you do between college and grad school?
After undergrad, I took a year off and worked for a nonprofit mental health and social service agency based in Harlem. I also focused on my love of dance by training and performing with a modern dance company, mainly throughout Brooklyn and Manhattan.
What do you like to do outside of school?
I enjoy the city nightlife and eating at new restaurants, trying different cuisines. Presently, most of my free time is spent relaxing with a book (usually science fiction) or hanging out with friends. I also try my best to leave the city and travel whenever I can.
