Why you chose ISMMS?
I chose Mount Sinai because of their hyper-focused microbiology department. The renowned virologists and extensive resources make the department an unparalleled place to conduct research. (The micro students make the department fun too!)

I am studying how some cell populations survive direct infection with influenza virus while others do not.
Undergrad institution and major: University of Washington: Biochemistry and Physiology
What did you do between college and grad school?
I worked as a technician for almost five years between undergrad and starting my graduate training, first at Washington University in St. Louis and then at Seattle Children’s Research Institute.
What do you like to do outside of school?
Play with my dog, walk in Central Park with my husband, read novels, bake cookies, eat tacos, yoga
