Why you chose ISMMS?

ISMMS have both of strong developmental and stem cell biology in DSCB track, advantageous to pursue stem cell-utilizing studies that often requires developmental biology background. Besides, easily accessible stem cell core facility providing essential reagents and fancy equipments is another merit to pursue stem cell research.

Project:

I have been interested in studying schizophrenia (SZ) using hiPSCs and their derivative neural cells, especially hiPSC neurons. To this end, I had first worked on setting up a neuronal induction method with hiPSC-derived neural precursor cells. Recently, I have focused on understanding genetic etiology of SZ associated-genes to neuronal functions in hiPSC-neuronal platform.

Undergrad institution and major: Biological Sciences at Inje University, South Korea

What did you do between college and grad school?

Before starting PhD program at ISMMS, I had earned Master’s degree and worked as staff-scientist for a hear and a half.

What do you like to do outside of school?

taking care of my two sons.
