Student Profiles

Name: Francoeur, Nancy
Year you started at ISMMS: 2013
Program: PhD      MTA: GGS

Why you chose ISMMS?

I chose ISMMS for their investment in genomics, from recruiting expert faculty, expanding their computing resources and housing the most advanced sequencing technologies.

Lab: Dalila Pinto

Project:

Trying to figure out the role of long non-coding RNAs in gene regulatory networks underlying autism spectrum disorders.

Undergrad institution and major: Boston University: Biochemistry & Molecular Biology

What did you do between college and grad school?

Worked as a lab technician doing cancer genomics at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston for 2 years, then moved to NYC to do a masters in Biology at New York University. While studying there, I worked as a technician for a plant genomics lab for another 2 years before deciding to go for a PhD.

What do you like to do outside of school?

Travel (when I can), yoga (when I’m not too lazy), reading (almost exclusively non-fiction), cooking (and eating), day drinking, and being the biggest Montreal Canadiens fan in all of NYC.
