Name: di Domenico, Francesca
Year you started at ISMMS: 2016
Program: PhD MTA: CAB
Why you chose ISMMS?
I really liked the faculty and students when I interviewed, and I felt that it was a really supportive program. I also wanted to be somewhere with a very active scientific community and NYC has lots of institutions, research, and collaboration.
Undergrad institution and major: Johns Hopkins University: BS Molecular and Cellular Biology (minor in Italian); Peabody Institute: BM Voice
What did you do between college and grad school?
After college, I won a grant to spend the summer studying German at the Freie Universität Berlin. I returned to the US and spent the next two years working as a technician in Dr. Kevin Eggan’s lab at Harvard.
What do you like to do outside of school?
I love anything active, especially spinning and running. I used to be an opera singer, so I studied a lot of European languages and I really enjoy practicing them and traveling. I also really like trying interesting restaurants and unashamedly have a food instagram.
